We have all become ice cream fanatics. So much for watching our caloric intake on this trip.
Just North of Omaha NE is the Mormon Trial Center, which is also know as 'Winter Quarters' or the stopping place before the saints left for Utah. This is where the saints struggled so much, not being adequately prepared for the difficulties that awaited them as they crossed the many miles to Utah.
In Kanesville, it was revealed that Brigham Young was to succeed Joseph Smith as the new Prophet of the church. Because it was the anniversary of the saints arriving in Utah - July 24th, Jaclyn led about thirty of us in song inside the Kanesville tabernacle as a way of commemorating this special day.
