Mount Rushmore & The Badlands - July 22

Our first stop was Custer State Park - with the Nations second largest herd of buffalo. It is a very small park compared with Yellowstone, but it packs a lot to see. Next stop we saw Crazy Horse, a work in progress. In speaking with a ranger, he stated that this project has no finish date, but for certain in would not happen in our lifetime. By the time that we got up to Mount Rushmore, it was a nice and hot 104 degrees. We headed north to Rapid City and then west to Wall Drug. We were told not to miss it, so we stopped. It's good to a one time stop.
Later we headed down through the Badlands. We were amazed by the terrain, the colors and the uniqueness of the landscape. Unfortunately, we ran out of daylight.

Ben, I see your hat is from Denali National Park in Alaska. I didn't know you made it all the way up there on your trip!

Mount Rushmore --- a great tribute to some great men. I loved it. AND I too wonder if Crazy Horse will ever be finished. Did they say why --- or what -- or when?
